We put our charges up this year after three years of no increases.

 

Schools are charged per pupil for museum-based and outreach session, but only those schools outside the Town Council area pay. Currently it is £4.50 (inc VAT) per student. We charge £200 plus VAT for a whole day in a school which is quite a saving if it is 3 classes or more. Assemblies are £35 plus vat. Standard 4 activity sessions are about 2 hours long.  

 

We are currently closed for redevelopment so everything is outreach for the moment – Trowbridge schools are still free.

 

We charge £35 plus vat for a talk to a group (WI, U3A, etc.), my evening talks are £7 per person which includes wine and nibbles, and we charge either £40 or £55 for a reminiscence session in a care home depending on the distance from the Museum. Adult craft sessions and courses are anything from £12 - £15 for a half day printing or felting session to £45/£50 for a weaving workshop.

 

Most holiday activities are free, and when there is a charge it is around the £3 - £5 depending on the activity.

 

I’d interested to see what other similar-sized town museums charge in the SW.

Would anybody be happy to share how much you charge a school for a visit/tour/workshop.

 

Our 2018 prices are-

 

General history tour (45mins/1hour) £4.80 per student (min £96)

Bridge building workshop- (1 hour) £5 per student (min £75)

Discount offer- General tour and workshop- (2 hours) £8.50 per student

 

It would be interesting to hear what you guys charge, happy to circulate our final pricing research document.
