The Faculty of Higher Education at South Essex College of Further and Higher Education is looking for dedicated individuals to undertake the role of external examiner for a number of degree programmes recently validated by The University
of East Anglia, to commence in October 2018. Vacancies for external examiners are as follows:
BA (Hons) Early Years Education
BA (Hons) Special Educational Needs and Disability Studies
BSc (Hons) Criminology and Forensic Investigation
BA (Hons) Counselling
An overview of your role and responsibilities includes:
Confirming the comparability of standards of student performance at South Essex College of Further and Higher Education with those of similar modules at other UK Institutions of Higher Education; confirming that the assessment process is
sound, and has been fairly conducted; reporting and advising on the above by means of approving coursework and examination papers, and providing an annual report to the College.
The successful candidate will be required to moderate a sample of work, to produce an annual report and to attend Boards of Examiners as required.
You should have appropriate expertise/experience in the discipline/disciplines pertinent to the particular vacancy you are applying for, and be able to undertake a role in the assurance of academic standards in Higher Education.
You should not hold more than one other UK Higher Education External Examiner post at the start of the contract and be qualified to at least the level of the programme to be examined.
