A POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP position is available immediately in the group of Dr. Francis Tsai in the Department of Biochemistry at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. The Tsai lab uses structural analysis techniques at different resolution scales to understand the structure, function, and mechanism of protein quality control machines.

The successful applicant must be highly-motivated with experience in protein biochemistry and molecular biology, including gene cloning and protein expression. Methods used in the Tsai group range from structural analysis techniques, including but not limited to X-ray crystallography, single-particle cryoEM, and electron cryotomography, protein biochemistry, chemical biology, and proteomic approaches to using bacteria, yeast, and worms as model organisms. Experience with methods used for high-resolution structure analysis (X-ray, NMR, and cryoEM) is desirable but not required and training will be provided. Applicants should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and should be within the first two years or their Ph.D. degree in a relevant field. Salary for this position is commensurate with experience and pegged to the current NIH scale.
