Cross-study research: Opportunities, challenges and examples

The aim of this free workshop is to provide an overview of the opportunities and challenges inherent in cross-study research, with a particular focus on data harmonisation.

Date: Tuesday 16 October 2018, 10:00 - 16:00
Venue: Arthur Lewis Building, University of Manchester
Speaker: Rebecca Hardy, Professor of Epidemiology and Medical Statistics

This October, CLOSER<https://www.closer.ac.uk/> are providing a one-day workshop focussing on the opportunities, and the challenges, that come with cross-study research. The event will look particularly at these issues in relation to data harmonisation<https://www.closer.ac.uk/about-the-research-we-fund/data-harmonisation/> and will be led by Professor Rebecca Hardy<https://iris.ucl.ac.uk/iris/browse/profile?upi=RHARD63>.

The day will be split into three sessions. The first will explore CLOSER's own data harmonisation work with talks from two of our related research projects. This session will also include a practical exercise designed to help delegates understand the issues raised. The second session will feature talks from external cross-cohort initiatives and will provide insights into projects across multiple disciplines. The final session will focus on analytical approaches in cross-study research.

The workshop is hosted by the Data, Skills and Training Research Group<https://www.cmist.manchester.ac.uk/research/research-groups/data-skills-and-training/> in the Cathie Marsh Institute for Social Research (CMI) at the University of Manchester.
