Hi Clair, We hold old lab notebooks in our library and this is the formal retention policy as developed by our former Compliance Manager taking into account relevant legislation: "The Lab notebook guidance and procedure states that the LNs should be retained for 30 years where the work involving chemicals is reported and period is 40 years for work involving known carcinogens. For projects undertaken under our ORETO licence (licence to undertake efficacy studies on pesticides), LNs must be retained for the duration that the product is registered for use in the EU. " However, in practice we are defaulting to 40 years due to be safe.
