Hello- I had a call last week about Green Great Britain Week, and am writing to give you the heads up about this. Green Great Britain Week . The call was organised by the Dept for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (which oversees both universities,
and climate change management in the UK), with Natural England, National Trust, BBC, Womens’ Institute, sports networks, NERC, Community Energy England and Community Energy Scotland.
Green Great Britain Week will run from 15–19 October. The aim is to raise awareness of the connections between the environment and industry/tech in the UK, and connects with the Clean Growth Strategy. There is a focus on climate change (causes, mitigation,
adaptation) and air quality. Seeing as climate change touches on pretty much everything, and you can engage with the week in whatever way you want, this is a brilliant opportunity to be part of a national event. Time is short, so badging up ‘what you might
be doing already’ is also an option, and helps amplify your message. This is not a partisan event, but an exploration and hopefully two-way dialogue on challenges faced today and in the future, through the entanglement of society, economy and environment.
Green Great Britain Week
- Was conceived by the govt. to drive ambition around climate change and industrial/production related challenges [you could think plastic here]
- Connects with 10-year anniversary of the Climate Change Act
- Mon is about leadership; Tues is about innovation, clean tech; Wed is about green finance; Thurs is about business action;
- Friday is the People’s Day- the main opportunity for museums- climate action in day-to-day life, raising awareness, framing discussions
There will be further information and logos coming out this week that I’ll send round.
Please do think about taking part somehow. It is a really good opportunity.
Yours,
Henry
