Come and work with us in lovely Newcastle on Tyne! We have a full-time, permanent Learning Developer post available (details below) in our small but awesome team in the university library.


Salary: £29,799 - £38,833 per annum

Closing Date: 11 September 2018

Required to work in the Writing Development Centre which is based in the Philip Robinson Library. Working across all disciplines and levels of study, you will help students develop their academic skills including academic and assessment literacies and broader study skills such as revision strategies, critical thinking and time management. You will contribute to the teaching and one-to-one student support delivered by the Centre and to the design and development of online tutorials and other teaching resources.

Significant experience and sound understanding of academic skills and learning development in higher education is essential as is knowledge of developments in teaching, learning and assessment in higher education. You will have a good first degree and postgraduate degree, and a teaching qualification in post compulsory education (ITLHE, CASAP and/or a Certificate or equivalent; PGCE: Certificate or Diploma in Teaching of English as a Second Language to Adults.

You will demonstrate a student-centred approach and ability to work with students from a wide range of backgrounds to support their learning needs. You will possess native competence in English or equivalent and the ability to communicate complex information clearly and effectively with students, academic staff and colleagues. You should be able to demonstrate the ability to work effectively either independently or as part of a team
