PhD position in Structural Geology / Geomechanics /
Engineering Geology
We are looking for a motivated PhD student to work on a research
project funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs
and Energy (BMWi).
Your qualification
• M.Sc. or equivalent degree in Geology or a closely related
discipline
• profound knowledge in structural geology, geomechanics, rock
mechanical testing and/or numerical modelling
• good communication and computing skills
Your tasks
• characterization of fracture networks using terrestrial laser
scanner and photogrammetry
• rock mechanical testing
• development and application of methodologies to upscale hydraulic
and mechanical rock parameters from the lab and outcrop scale to the
scale of numerical reservoir models with cell sizes typically in the
range of 10th to 100th of meters
• proof of concept for two case studies
The PhD position is funded for three years. Salary level and
benefits are equivalent to 75% TV 13 (TV - TU Darmstadt). The
Technical University Darmstadt aims at increasing the number of
