Call for Papers: *The Soundtrack

*Aims and scope:*

The Soundtrack is seeking proposals for guest-edited volumes, contributions
to themed issues and article submissions for upcoming issues.

The Soundtrack is a cross-disciplinary journal which brings together
research in the area of sound and music studies in relation to film and
other moving image media. Drawing on a range of critical traditions such as
film studies, media studies, musicology and cultural studies, as well as
interactive and emerging media, the journal welcomes articles that address
a diversity of topics and which contribute to the development of this
increasingly important field of study. We encourage writing that is
accessible to audiences from a diversity of intellectual backgrounds and
disciplines as well as providing a forum for practitioners.

Contributions are invited on topics such as, but not limited to: histories
of sound design in narrative cinema; sound and music in video games; mobile
media and interactive platforms; early film sound and music practices;
sound and music in television; studies of composers and music supervisors;
sound effects and genre; film music and emotion; acoustic ecologies;
studies of noise, environments and soundscapes in media; trends in
audiographic criticismand sound art. The Soundtrack’s aim is to nurture
this expanding area of academic investigation in dialogue creators of sound
and music of all kinds.

Full articles should be 6,000-8,000 words in length. All articles submitted
should be original work and must not be under consideration by other
publications.
