Hello,
I have used the resources on this website as the pictures are reasonable and they have information action in a few other languages too.
https://www.stophateuk.org/what-is-hate-crime/
It was not a full lesson but a discussion with E1 and E2 learners. They offered some stories of problems they had encountered personally and they all put the reporting number in their phones. Tell Mama website is worth talking to them about also. I have then followed it up a few times, especially before holidays when they will not be seeing their teacher or coming into a community centre where they might access help in term time.
It was a good way to bring in issues they might not think of e.g. LGBT or disabled people experiencing hate crime. They only thought of it in terms of race or faith. We discussed making sure that their teenage children knew about their responsibilities not to discriminate as well as keeping safe themselves.
The focus was more on the learners themselves than on 3rd party reporting but we did talk about how they could call on behalf of someone else if they saw an incident on a bus or in the street etc.
I hope that helps,
Caroline

Dear Colleagues,

Following your many helpful responses from my previous post, I’d like to tap into your knowledge and expertise again.

Has anyone delivered lessons to learners on the subject of hate crime and 3rdparty reporting? Or do you know of any useful resources aimed at ESOL learners on this topic that you could point me in the direction of?

Many thanks in anticipation!

Best wishes,
