Hi folks,

We had a visit from a company called Mouse4all – switch access for Android www.mouse4all.com – it was really impressive. If only switch access in the iPad was so intuitive and easy to use as mouse4all!!!

I've had a bit of a look at this using a Bluetooth and wired keyboard. Predictable scans and selects using Space/Enter or 1/2 or Arrow Keys. If you assign another two keys to iOS you'd think that it would work. It doesnt. It sort of 'jams' up with neither iOS nor Predictable's scan working in Predictable. (iOS scan works in predictable if configured, of course).

However - a second keyboard (one BT and one wired) revealed that we could run both alongside each other quite nicely! Thus a wired switch interface and a BT switch interface would work. Well, probably!. But this is quite a cumbersome solutions as would require two switch interfaces and one switch switcher in order to work. I'm now chatting with my engineer as to whether we can make one.

Totally great idea about the Tecla, EA! That's just the device that should do the trick. However, in the page your link to the Tecla is able to change between devices using long-holds, which is great, but we want to change the function of the Tecla itself using long-holds, which I doesn't appear to do in the way we need it to!

Hi,

You can set up the Blue2 to do custom outputs – which then comes back to making the mode button accessible.

Having worked with RJ to design and build equipment, I suspect your assessment is correct!

Ha ha! I think there was a time when people like RJ Cooper would have made Blue2 with switch ports for all its functions...

Is there a Bluetooth switch interface that has multiple inputs - a bit like the old keyboard that had a row of switch input sockets on the back for each key - that I could then channel switch outputs from a switch switcher through to? I guess I could make something using an arduino or HID microcontroller? I've not much experience in that area but interested in trying it.

I do get the sensation that I'm missing something really obvious but I've spoken to Therapy Box and they don't have any solutions, either.

Hi Charlie,

I’d consider switch adapting the mode button.

Ironic isn’t it, adapting an accessibility aid to make it accessible?!

Subject: Using Predictable and iOS Scanning

Hi all,

I have a client who is using two switch scanning with Predictable on iOS but is unable to access the rest of the system as is using Predictable's built-in scanning. She has tried using iOS's scanning which obviously gets her around the rest of the system, and does work with predictable, but it's significantly less efficient than the app's own scanning.

I've thought about changing modes on the Blue2 switch interface and this should work - although does require someone pressing the mode button on her behalf. I wanted recipes to work but it ain't happening. Or a switch switcher to effectively change modes by having two Blue2 devices - but I don't think Bluetooth will support two devices of the same type.

Any ideas?

Charlie
