Subject: Principal Clinical Scientist Post

Dear Colleagues

I would like to draw to your attention to an exciting opportunity within our Biochemistry Department at our Oxford Rd site in Manchester.  We are a large department providing extensive core and specialist services for all patients from neonates to adults. We handle specialist referred work from a large number of hospitals within and beyond our region and we are looking for an enthusiastic clinical scientist, with a passion for Specialist method development as we look to expand our repertoire.

The department supports both adult and paediatric services across six hospitals (including the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital and Saint Mary’s Hospital for Women and Children) which together comprise Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. The laboratories moved in June 2009 to new purpose built accommodation and are well equipped with Roche Cobas 8000 and 6000 analysers for core chemistries. The Specialist Biochemistry Section is well equipped with several LC-MS/MS systems including a Thermo ExactiveTM Orbitrap instrument; Thermo TSQ EndurasTM and a SCIEX 6500+ system together with several HPLC systems.

You would be joining a team of Clinical Scientists – in addition to this post there are 4 other Principal Clinical Scientists (three 8b and one 8a),  plus rotational Band 7 posts.   The department is committed to training and has key consultants with regional and national training roles in both adult and paediatric biochemistry.

The post is advertised on NHS jobs , reference 349-CSS-1530.   The closing date is currently 3rd August.  If you would like to come and talk to us about it or look around the department please contact me on 0161-701-0578 or e-mail [log in to unmask]

We look forward to hearing from you.
