Dear all,
A tympanic bulla (also known as auditory bulla) of a baleen whale was found in a burial of a horse and a cow in Wijster, the Netherlands, 3rd/4th century AD. Up till now I did not find any whale tympanic bulla in archaeozoological literature from Europe, but I am aware of these bones in North-American and Chinese materials. Did someone found these bones in European archaeozoological material? Yours sincerely, Wietske Prummel
