Hi Armir,

Also check out the work of Tucker, Ostwald and others from the University of Newcastle (Australia) which applies the Hough transform to investigate the spatial configuration of façade elements, for example:

Tucker, C., & Ostwald, M. J. (2005). Spatial configuration within residential facades. In Space Syntax 5th International Symposium, Delft University of Technology (pp. 769-770).
Chalup, S. K., Clement, R., Tucker, C., & Ostwald, M. J. (2007, December). Modelling architectural visual experience using non-linear dimensionality reduction. In Australian Conference on Artificial Life (pp. 84-95). Springer, Berlin, Heidelberg.

Cheers,
Paul Osmond

Subject: Re: [SPACESYNTAX] Facade analysis

Hi, I suggest topological analysis of facades (Figure 1 in particular):

[cid:image001.jpg@01D421F8.C6ACB3C0]

https://www.researchgate.net/publication/312332540_Geographic_Space_as_a_Living_Structure_for_Predicting_Human_Activities_Using_Big_Data

This is in line with the topological representation, which is rooted in Alexander's living geometry, in Mandelbrot's fractal geometry, in Christaller's central place theory, as well as in the third definition of fractal: a set or pattern is fractal if the scaling of far more small things than large ones recurs multiple times or with ht-index being at least three.

Thanks and cheers.

Bin

Dear all,

Anything on Facade analysis (configurational approach)?
