2018 Winter Simulation Conference (WSC2018)

The Winter Simulation Conference (WSC) is the premier international forum for disseminating recent advances in the field of system simulation.  In addition to a technical program of unsurpassed scope and quality, WSC provides the central meeting place for simulation practitioners, researchers, and vendors working in all disciplines in industry, service, government, military and academic sectors.

December 9-12, The Swedish Exhibition & Congress Center, Gothenburg, Sweden

Conference Theme:  Simulation for a Noble Cause!

Call for Posters

Track Coordinators: Masoud Fakhimi, University of Surrey (UK) and Giulia Pedrielli, Arizona State University (USA)

The Poster Sessions offers a timely venue to present and discuss new modeling and simulation research through a forum encouraging graphical presentation, demonstration, and active engagement among Winter Simulation Conference participants. We are seeking outstanding extended abstracts (2 pages) submissions to be presented in a poster format at the conference. Competitive contributions will present interesting recent results, novel ideas or works-in-progress that are not quite ready for a regular full-length paper. Contributions from Ph.D. students are particularly welcome. To be considered, submitted manuscripts should follow the standard template, and should not exceed the 2 pages limit. In particular, we are seeking contributions within, but not restricted to, the following areas:

·         Simulation Methodology, Theory and Philosophy

·         Hybrid Simulation and Hybrid System Modeling

·         Simulation-based Optimization

·         Environment and Sustainability Applications

·         Simulation for logistics, Supply chain Management and Transportation

·         Simulation Education

·         Simulation Languages, Tools, and Environments

·         Numerical Simulation and Optimization as Applied to Business and Industry

·         Use of Modeling and Simulation in the Area of Computer Security

·         Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Image/Video Compression/Processing and Robotic Vision, real time and embedded systems, and Multimedia Applications and Systems

·         Any Aspect of Modeling and Simulation related to the Military

·         Modeling, Analysis and Simulation of Telecommunication Systems

·         Web-based Modeling and Simulation

·         High-performance Computing and Simulation

·         Network/Internet Traffic Modeling and Workload Characterization

·         Simulation of Clusters, Grids and Wireless Systems

·         Modeling and Simulation of Real-Time and Embedded Systems

·         Parallel and Distributed Simulators and Simulation Techniques

·         Modeling and Simulation in the area of Neural Networks

Important Dates:

August 17, 2018: electronically submit 2-page extended abstracts for presentations in the Poster Session and Ph.D. Student Colloquium.

September 14, 2018: Notification of acceptance to authors (including details about submitting slides, and formats of the posters).

October 5, 2018: Final extended abstracts due.

October 26, 2018: Slides for the presentation due (see guidelines in the track information)

December 9, 2018: Bring your A0 sized poster to WSC 2018. The Poster Madness Session and Ph.D. Colloquium both run on Sunday December 9, so participation in both is not possible.

Poster preparation guidelines:

Please bring a standard A0 size poster (841 x 1189 mm or 33.1 x 46.8 mm), or sheets which can be assembled to be that size or smaller.  We will be displaying four posters per poster board (2 per side). Your poster should cover the main points of your work and be as self-explanatory as possible. The posters will be available in the exhibition hall for the duration of the conference, in order to allow the presenters to discuss their work. For more information please see: http://meetings2.informs.org/wordpress/wsc2018/poster-sessions/

WSC 2018 is sponsored by ACM/SIGSIM, ASA (Technical Co-Sponsor), ASIM (Technical Co-Sponsor), IEEE/SMC (Technical Co-Sponsor), IIE, INFORMS-SIM, NIST (Technical Co-Sponsor) and SCS.

Best wishes,

Masoud
