Dear colleagues,

Apologies for cross-posting. Please read the below opportunity to join our community of interest in Global HSR. Please feel free to circulate this email to any colleagues who might find it relevant.

Could your health systems research benefit low and middle income countries?

Join the NIHR/HSRUK community of interest and find out more about funding opportunities.

At HSRUK’s 2018 conference in Nottingham on 4-5 July, Mike Batley, Deputy Director of Research Programmes at Department of Health and Social Care, set out a specific opportunity to UK health services and systems researchers in his presentation about the NIHR’s Global Health Research programme. The programme will fund applied health research for the direct benefit of patients and the public in low and middle income countries (LMICs). He encouraged HSRUK members and the wider HSR community to work with the NIHR as it expands into global health systems research.

We talked to many of you at the conference about this opportunity, which offers the chance to inform priority themes, contribute wider insights and be part of a like-minded community of researchers. You may not have considered undertaking this kind of research – here is your chance to explore it. Interested researchers are encouraged to sign up to the NIHR/HSRUK Community of Interest which will be launched over the summer and feed into a session at HSR2018, the 5th Global Symposium on Health Systems Research, in Liverpool in October. The session will be on 9 October at 1:30pm and is called ‘The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) – A whole system approach to improving health at national and global level’.

Best wishes,
