Unfortunately I don't remember which cathedral or church it was, but I have
a memory as a child of going around one such place with my family with an
audio guide - the guide was of a small child who had some connection with
the place that I've long since forgotten. But he was playing hide and seek
(with us, perhaps?) and sharing with us life that was unfolding around him
as he went, overhearing people talking and finding objects and notes that
people had left. Through doing it we looked into things and behind things
that we would never otherwise have touched or opened! I'm afraid I don't
really remember the outcome of the story either, but just have this
lingering memory of the excitement of getting to see places that you felt
should have been forbidden.

The other religious building experience I remember was the Shrewsbury Quest
just across from Shrewsbury Abbey. It was a walkthrough experience themed
around Cadfael, and you were solving a murder. I remember having to hunt
for particular herbs in the herb garden, and having to do some illuminated
writing. You spoke to live actors along the way to collect clues too. At
the end you had the chance to point the finger at the culprit, but I don't
remember much else about the ending - it was the process that was the fun
part. The experience hasn't existed for a very long time but I found a web

interactive nature of the place.
