The University of Oldenburg (Germany) seeks to appoint at the next possible date:
Assistant Professor (W1)
'Sociology of social inequality'
The job holder will be initially employed for five years. An extension of another three years is foreseen, subject to a positive evaluation. The research and teaching activities of the applicant should cover central areas of the sociology of social inequalities, in line with the focus of our Bachelor's and Master's programs. We are looking for a candidate with a strong record in inequality research or a related area of studies (such as education, labor market or social policy research). In addition, experience with analysing social inequalities in a European or internationally comparative perspective is desirable.
The candidate should have an excellent scientific profile, as demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications in the above-mentioned fields of study. We value not only publications in national and international peer-reviewed journals, but also experience in the acquisition and coordination of externally funded research projects. Interdisciplinary cooperation is an asset, as is an international orientation and relevant teaching experience. The job holder is expected to contribute to the research conducted at the Institute of Social Sciences and outlined in the Faculty profile "Participation and Education". Since the Universities of Bremen and Oldenburg have a cooperation agreement, active collaboration with colleagues from Bremen is expected.
The successful candidate has an excellent academic degree and experience in teaching and research, as demonstrated by an outstanding dissertation. Applicants must not have been employed in the academic sector for more than six years altogether.
