Temporary agent post (3+2 years)–  AST4  –  Open Science Librarian

The EUI Library is seeking for a creative and collaborative individual to join the new Library team ‘Scholarly Communication and Open Science’. This team will support the EUI’s faculty, PhD researchers and post-doctoral fellows with their needs related to scholarly communication, open access, copyright and research-related information matters. Under the supervision of the Director of the Library, the selected candidate will work according to the Library strategy, the EUI Open Access Policy, aiming at defining and building a new scholarly communication strategy and Open Science policy and supporting open data dissemination.

The successful candidate should – in line with the team’s objectives – work as an advocate for Open Access in the EUI environment and community. Responsibilities will include work related to Cadmus (the EUI research repository), and EUI ResData (the EUI data repository).

 

This is a full-time position. The working language is English.

Remuneration and benefits: the net monthly salary after taxes is approx. Euro 3,271. In addition to the salary, staff members may be entitled to various allowances, in particular a household allowance, expatriation allowance (16% of basic salary and household allowance), dependent child allowance and education allowance. The EUI has its own social security and pension scheme. Under certain circumstances, in particular where the selected candidate is obliged to change his/her place of residence in order to take up employment, the EUI may also reimburse various expenses incurred on recruitment, notably removal expenses

 

The European University Institute (EUI) is a unique international centre for doctorate and post-doctorate studies and research, situated in the Tuscan hills overlooking Florence.

Research at the Institute is supported by the EUI Library and by a team of about 20 experienced librarians and information specialists.
More than forty years of investment in collections, services and infrastructure, have resulted in an internationally recognised social science research library, valued for its multi-national character and the high quality of its collections with a special emphasis on Europe. Most of the Library’s print holdings are on open shelving. In addition, the Library provides its users access to an extensive collection of databases, full text e-journals, e-books and e-working papers. The Library has the status of European Documentation Centre (EDC), an official depository of EU publications and documents.
The EUI subscribes to the principle of Open Access. Library staff strives to work with the academic community to increase the content, coverage and visibility of the EUI research repository, Cadmus.
