Dear all,

Apologies for cross-posting.

I will be leaving Centre of the Cell at the end of August, so we will be recruiting for a new Head of Learning to lead our learning and outreach programmes. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a wonderful team in a unique organisation at an exciting phase of the Centre’s development. Details here:

Centre of the Cell is the first science education centre in the world to be located within medical research laboratories. Centre of the Cell has visitors from school groups during term time and family groups during the school holidays. It also runs an outreach programme for schools, and a Youth Membership Scheme for young people aged 14 – 19. In Autumn 2018, the Centre’s second learning space, ‘Neuron Pod’, will be opening.

The post-holder will strategically plan and lead the development and delivery of Centre of the Cell’s Learning Programme for schools, young people, families and the public. They will also lead the Learning Team, including the core team and a team of casual staff.

We are seeking a flexible, ambitious, motivated and inspirational individual who has experience of managing a learning team in eg a museum, science centre, educational charity or in a higher education setting. We expect the successful applicant to have substantial management experience and to have worked in science outreach/communication, widening participation in higher education and content development during their career. Experience of evaluation of public engagement/science communication projects is also essential. Experience of digital media development in a science centre or museum and income generation are both desirable.

The post is full time. Starting salary will be £45,577 inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave per annum and defined benefit pension scheme.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
