Yes I am sure volume and complexity, and probably even where in the country you are, has some bearing on salary. I have always felt there ought to be a salary scale for EOs across the country, but then that would mean having a more or less generic job description too and that’s never going to happen!  My college are very switched on when it comes to the idea of paying, first and foremost, according to responsibility and less to do with numbers of students, and so I am aware I get a good deal compared to some others. Mind you, I think my job is worth more lol. I think all Eos are paid below what they should be.

 

I hope you have a productive conversation with HR – they have a lot of justifying to do if someone with less responsibility earns more than you.  Good luck J

So you are well over £22k then, my issue is not really comparing myself with other exams officers as some colleges have more students than others.  I am annoyed that someone in the same college as me who has a lot less responsibility is earning more than I am.   I have a meeting with HR next Monday but I am not expecting a quick resolution…..

Cath I have just had a look at our scale and our points don’t match up with yours…points 25-28 are roughly £20k - £22k and I think and area allowance of about £1k gets added to that.  I think I am roughly point 38.

That is the same as me, don’t know about you but I don’t think its enough.  The essential skills co-ordinator role here has been advertised at £22,500 and they don’t have the responsibility that I have.  How many students full time and part time do you have?

Further to my earlier post that started this thread, I emailed HR on Friday but as of yet no reply.  Would any of you be willing to share information on what salary point you are on, I know you may not be willing to state your actual salary but some indication of the grade or salary point would be useful.  I want to get as much information together as possible before I meet with them.

Good Afternoon All

 

I don’t know about the rest of you but I have found this series of exam very hard in fact the whole year has stressful due to staff cuts that have left me struggling to cope and keep on top of everything.  To add insult to injury I have now found out after seeing an internal job advert that the co-ordinator for the essential skill department is on higher salary than I am.  I intend to take it up with HR, do the rest of you think I should?
