The School of Law at Manchester Metropolitan University is seeking to appoint External Examiners to the following posts:


*         Graduate Diploma in Law (CPE)

*         LLB (Hons)

*         LLM

Please note Manchester Met delivers these programmes both on campus and in collaboration with one of our partner institutions in Hong Kong.

Once approved, the external examiner for the LLM programme may be required to undertake the dual role of both a subject and award external. The Manchester Met External Examining Policy states:

4.9 Award External Examiner nominees must be a senior member of staff at a UK Higher Education provider. They should possess an extensive understanding of assessment regulations and procedures, and have demonstrable experience in managing assessment processes including, but not limited to, chairing Assessment Boards or authorship/oversight of an institution's Academic Regulations.

Appointments start from 1st September 2018, with a standard tenure of 4 academic years and one term. Duties include moderation of assignment briefs and student work, attendance at assessment board, completion of an annual report and potential consultation on Programme modifications.
Previous external examining experience is preferred but not essential as you would have contact with the other external examiners in the subject area.

*         Details of any involvement you have had with Manchester Metropolitan in the past five years

NOTE: You will not be eligible for this role if you have had a close involvement with Manchester Metropolitan University within the past five years. 'Close involvement' may be defined as having been a member of staff, governor or student of the University, or possessing a close professional, contractual or personal relationship with a member of staff or student with an involvement in the Programme (including involvement in collaborative research activity).
