Dear Friends,

This is sad news. Disability studies has lost another founder. Dennis was active in SDS for decades. He built the program at the University of Washington. His sudden death is a loss to us all. In particular to our erstwhile SDS President, Joanne Woiak, who is at UW. Send her happy thoughts and let’s all work just a bit harder to promote disability studies, and to enjoy that work for Dennis and the others gone before him.

In Solidarity,

Devva

To the Disability Studies community,

It is with deep sadness that I share the news that Dennis Lang, our friend, colleague, mentor, and the heart of the University of Washington Disability Studies Program, died on Saturday, June 23 in Seattle.  A tribute to Dennis will be posted on the Disability Studies website in a few days.

A private family memorial will be held at a future date.  His family suggests donations in his honor be made to the Dennis Lang Student Award in Disability Studies.  https://disabilitystudies.washington.edu/support-disability-studies-program
