The Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) seeks to employ a Head of Good Practice and Standards to fill a new post.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a high-profile and important role, designing a new program in standards and good practice for digital preservation whilst supporting the needs of an established DPC member.

In January 2018 the DPC established a new strategic objective entitled ‘Good Practice and Standards’ identifying and developing good practice and standards that make digital preservation achievable, supporting efforts to ensure services are tightly matched to shifting requirements. This new objective requires further development to meet the requirements of DPC members. Therefore, with the support of a grant from the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, we have been able to create a new post that will develop this new program based on a close engagement with a significant DPC member.

You will be the principle officer for a fixed term project funded by the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) to advise on good practice and standards in digital preservation. Working in partnership with the NDA, and embedded within the DPC team, you will inform the NDA and other DPC members of emerging standards for preservation, enabling their input into standards development and supporting efforts to ensure emerging technologies and standards remain tightly matched to shifting requirements. You will enhance and provide mechanisms which assure the quality of digital preservation facilities and processes. You will help the NDA and other DPC members develop and embed policies and regulations that can become examples of good practice within their own communities.

Recruitment will be to the DPC offices in either Glasgow or York and is available immediately.

The post is offered on a full time, fixed term basis for an initial period of two years with a view to creating a permanent role after that time.

The post is offered at Grade 7, points 32- 39 (£34,520 - £42,418 with 2018 cost of living increase expected 1st August).

The successful candidate will be appointed at a level consistent with previous employment. A market supplement is available to match the salary of an outstanding candidate.

Applications should be submitted by email not later than 0900 on Monday 23rd July.

Shortlisted candidates should be available for interview Friday 10th August (location to be confirmed).

More information, a full job specification and an application form can be found on the DPC website
