Dear Sutirtha, this is a great question. In fact, as far as I know, blood gas analysis is greatly affected in the case that a tight airseal of the sample cannot be ensured. PCO2 diffuses out of the sample into the atmosphere, leading to increases in pH. The bicarb in the sample is anyway calculated through pH and pCO2 und would therefore also be affected.
