Afternoon Dan, After looking at the KM Flux software, it appears to be the new version of JT Man which was hanging around a few years ago. KM purchased it and then developed it. It works on any hardware, so not specific for KM fleet. They offer 3 different flavours of licence. The first is a non networked stand alone product, so pretty useless from a certain point of view. The second is a larger application with queue management (integrates into papercut) and gives users a virtual print queue on there desktops, so they can then print directly to the print room. The standard job manipulation, preview, comms, editing is all available. The third is the one that interests us, as it creates its on internal website so your users can login and pick standard products and upload to the print management suite themselves. You can customise catalogues and products, have standard solutions and even allow customers to pay via papercut or debit card or pay pal. I think we are going to have a quick demo of skyline which is a very similar solution – the only difference was Flux’s website looked slightly better than skylines – but they seem to be a very much same product. As unfortunately we’re not in a position to switch out our reprographics print machines at this time, so we’d need something which could work with our existing Sharp equipment. I couldn’t find a printing or reprographics specific JISC mailing list so I’m posting this here – if this isn’t a good place to post this, perhaps someone could point me in the right direction? We're looking around for a system which can help us manage our Reprographics provision more effectively and efficiently. In particular the sorts of things we'd want to be able to do are as follows: • The system needs to allow manual input of job tickets by the reprographics technician (in addition to end users being able to submit files electronically) as we do still get plenty of hardcopy jobs in Reprographics • For jobs where the cost would be above a certain value, we’d need jobs to be approved/authorised by the Head of Department of the person that requested the job, and we’d need that cost to be displayed on the approval screen • When a job is accepted and approved, an email acknowledgement needs to be sent to the person who requested the job (which may be different to the person who input the job into the system) • The system then needs to put together a job schedule in a FIFO manner but with the ability for jobs to jump the queue if special authorisation is provided • The job schedule should be in a daily format so that the reprographics technician can see what jobs need processing today and can update the status of each one as it is done • The system would need to have some form of reporting and/or dashboard for service level agreement monitoring • The system would need to be able to work with our existing Sharp reprographics copiers We do already have PaperCut MF for our regular print management, but while it does have a Job Ticketing addon available for reprographics rooms now, it doesn't seem like this would meet all the needs described above.
