Many of you probably will have known Mel Joyner from Plymouth and some of you may know that, very sadly, she died a few weeks ago. Her parents are in Plymouth and with Pauline Kneale they have arranged a memorial service for her and everyone is welcome to attend. I knew Mel for several years and she was an outstanding colleague – the epitome of a professional academic. Always ready to help, extremely well read and well informed and a joy to work with. I shall miss her as I am sure many of you will do too.
