I have had a few e-mails sent to me using this app and it appears that it works ok on Firefox and chrome (which I use) but not on safari which is on my ipad - I wonder if that contributes to the problem for the end user. Also I have heard (from an IT bod) that some email servers do not understand the content of an encrypted e-mail so they will be filtered as spam. I do think that encrypted emails will become the norm once the software improves though.

Hi Pauline

We use End to End Encryption Proton Mail.

We understand that encryption is not mandatory, however, we feel encryption is important when considering content and risks.

If the data risk is high then its advised to encrypt, it all goes back to RISK.

So it was felt that pdf and password was not secure enough??

It would be interesting to have overall Jisc thoughts on that?

Regards

Jill

Hi All

I’m looking for a little advice please.

We are experiencing difficulties now that we are encrypting reports we send to employees. It isn’t such an issue with employers.

A lot of the encrypted reports are being filtered into the employees SPAM so are being missed and then they have to upload a programme to be able to open it which they aren’t really willing to do it would appear.

We do explain the process at the time of their consultation however it is still causing difficulties and slowing down our turnaround of reports and affecting KPI’s etc.

Has anyone else experienced this as an issue – or are there any processes/systems that you are following/using that are more user friendly but ticks all the boxes for GDPR, especially encryption. What are you doing when sending reports via email to employees and clients?

Help or experiences much appreciated.

Regards

Jill
