Senior Research Associate

Further Particulars (Ref: RA1516)

The Post: The principle function will be to manage and apply ultrafast spectrometers developed at the University of East Anglia (UEA), Norwich, UK. The two key methods to be applied - ultrafast fluorescence up-conversion and femtosecond stimulated Raman spectroscopy (FSRS) - are already commissioned in the UEA ultrafast laboratory. In this project the apparatus will be used to study excited state structural dynamics in a range of light activated molecular switches. These will include both synthetic photoswitches, (molecular rotors and photochromics) and protein based photoswitchable variants of the green fluorescent protein. The project at UEA is supported by the EPSRC. The post holder will collect and analyse results, prepare data for publication and contribute to drafting papers and attend conference, and will be encouraged to pursue independent research funding.

Salary
Salary will be £32,548 per annum, on point 30 of Grade 7 on the single salary spine.
