Sociology of Health & Illness <https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/journal/14679566> is an international journal which publishes sociological articles on all aspects of health, illness, medicine and health care. We welcome empirical and theoretical contributions in this field in the form of original research reports or review articles. In addition to the seven regular issues published each year, subscribers receive a further special issue. These themed issues aim to identify and contribute to new areas of debate and research in the discipline and each issue is devoted to an important topic of current interest.

The journal is owned by the Foundation for the Sociology of Health and Illness<http://www.shifoundation.org.uk/?page_id=8> , a UK charity, established in December 1999<http://www.shifoundation.org.uk/?page_id=18> registered with the Charity Commission. Its objectives<http://www.shifoundation.org.uk/?page_id=20>, as set out in the Memorandum of Association, are for the public benefit to promote and improve social scientific research, education and scholarship in the field of the sociology of health and illness.

We are currently renewing our editorial board and are seeking three individuals at all career stages who wish to take an active role in the life of SHI. The Editorial Board is a working board, involved in reviewing submissions and also in the strategy and direction of the journal. The main responsibilities of Editorial Board members include:

  *   Refereeing an average 10 papers per year, within two weeks of receipt;
  * Attending at least one of two editorial board meetings per year, one to be held at the annual BSA Medical Sociology group conference in Autumn
  * Supporting and participating in various events and projects, and well as contributing to the journal through review articles and virtual issues
  * Reviewing candidates and papers eligible for the SHI New Writer's Prize, Monographs and Special Issues, and other initiatives
  * Reviewing candidates and papers eligible for the SHI New Writer's Prize, Monographs and Special Issues, and other initiatives
  * Acting as an ambassador for SHI, and encouraging colleagues to submit to SHI
