The School of Advanced Study presents...
Living Frankenstein

Dare to join us on Wednesday 23 May to explore Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, an epic thriller brought to life through immersive performances, talks, workshops and activities.

Listen to chilling ghost stories by candlelight as you step into Victor Frankenstein's lab and relive the birth of the monster. Learn about the scientific and medical innovations of the period, and play with a 19th-century vampire slaying kit. Listen to a live musical performance inspired by James Whales' 1931 adaptation and learn about how Frankenstein has inspired popular culture since its publication in 1818. You can also create your own monsters, learn about developments in electricity and re-animation, examine surgical tools from the period, test your ability to distinguish the stench of fear from odour of excitement, and experience an electrifyingly poetic beatbox adaptation of the book from the Battersea Arts Centre's BAC Beatbox Academy.
Guests will also have the unique opportunity to taste 'alchemy inspired cocktails' and dab on 'A Curious Essence' - a 200-year-old perfume recreated from its original parts - to smell delightfully of fresh flowers, citrus fruits, whale vomit and goat glands.
23 May 2018 | 6:30pm-9:45pm | Senate House, London
Price: £20 (standard) | £10 (concession / unwaged)
