Hi all,

We still take print as well as electronic copies of our research theses. We now remove signatures from PDFs we receive for our repository/portal and we do not make signed submission forms for the electronic versions publically available.

Our print theses, however, have 3 declarations (to say that it has not been submitted elsewhere, it is original work, & to give consent to photocopy and ILL) and those from the last 5 years and frequently requested theses are on open shelves.

We are expecting changes and more consistency in the future so that we can alter statements to have a paragraph that assumes the above upon submission, without the need for signatures, especially as we move towards e-submission. But we find these processes are slow to change and feel we need to tackle the signatures now.

So, for now, we will remove the pages at the cataloguing stage but if anyone else is dealing with similar issues? We are also removing the old consultation slips with names and contacts of the people who consulted the theses that are now on open shelves.

We also wondered if other institutions are still sending abstracts to ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Global? We add our abstracts to our repository/portal where they can be harvested, and increasingly catalogue these in our LMS for discovery in our library catalogue, and we no longer subscribe to PDTG.

Many thanks for any thoughts on these issues!

Amy
