It will focus upon innovative methods for CPD. Speakers from different sectors will offer their own insights and advice on what works in practice. The event aims to provide tips and advice which can
easily be applied by information professionals in different settings, at all stages in their careers.

Fran Porritt - Mentoring and CPD
“Becoming a mentor can improve your ability to develop and nurture your own staff while learning new ideas and approaches from other professionals” (CILIP, 2017)
Fran will talk about the benefits of cross-sectoral mentoring relationships and how this enhances your CPD activities, particularly with respect to the wider professional
context.

Jo Wood - Connecting Professionals Digitally: how podcasting can connect and support information professionals globally
Jo Wood manages a remote library and information service for social workers. She qualified in 2006, Chartered in 2008 and is currently pursuing Fellowship. Jo produces
the Librarians with Lives podcast and blog.
Katie Moore - CPD for the new professional. Where can newcomers to the profession (and those supporting them) look out for and create opportunities for
development. Katie, will share her tips for getting ahead.
Katie Moore is the Trainee Liaison Librarian for Modern Languages and Education at the University of Reading
The afternoon will begin with a buffet lunch and then the AGM, followed by the main presentations and mid-afternoon refreshments. Non–Members are welcome to attend but cannot vote.
