Dear all
SCONUL is seeking a consultant to carry out research into the experience of BAME (Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic) staff working in academic libraries as the first part of a research project looking at supporting member libraries in their
aim of fostering ethnic diversity within their workforces.
The Society of College, National and University Libraries (SCONUL) represents all university libraries in the UK and Ireland, irrespective of mission group, as well as national libraries and many of the UK’s colleges of higher education.
It promotes awareness of the role of academic libraries in supporting research excellence and student achievement and employability, and represents their views and interests to government, regulators and other stakeholders. It helps academic libraries collaborate
to deliver services efficiently, including through shared services, and to share knowledge and best practice. Its current strategy, Collaborating for Change, sets out an ambitious agenda in developing the vision, leadership, and impact of UK academic library
services in an increasingly complex and global landscape. To deliver on these broad themes SCONUL has identified six programmes of work on which it will focus its energies on during 2016-19 [https://www.sconul.ac.uk/page/sconuls-strategy]. A key programme
is strategic workforce planning for the sector and a task and finish group has been set-up to deliver this work.
This project is being led by Regina Everitt (UEL), John Dowd (Birmingham) and myself. Other elements include work on the pipeline for new talent and development of the current workforce.
The brief for the research is attached and we would be grateful if could pass this on to anyone within your own institution or contacts who might be interested in bidding.
Please do get in contact if you have any questions.
Thanks and best wishes.
Ann
