Dear colleagues, Apologies for multiple posting. We would like to draw your attention to the next GeoMod meeting that will take place in Barcelona (1-4 October 2018) : http://www.ub.edu/geomod2018/index.html Please consider submitting an abstract to the session "Dynamics of the Lithosphere" "The dynamics of the lithosphere study the respond of the outermost layers of the Earth to loads that are emplaced on, within, and below it and its implications for plate mechanics and mantle flow. The lithosphere is made up of almost a dozen mostly stiff plates which drift on the slowly deforming mantle. Where two plates collide, the energy of their movement produces especially strong effects as mountains building, volcanoes and earthquakes. The active deformation of these processes takes place on all timescales from seconds to millions of years. The analogue and numerical modelings play an essential role to test hypothesis on the physics and evolution of these geodynamic processes. The continuous development of the computational and the analysis in numerical and analogical simulations allows an improvement of the spatial and temporal resolutions. And it results in a rapid improvement of the understanding of the dynamics of the lithosphere. In this session, we invite contributions highlighting the state-of-the art in analogue and numerical modelings on lithosphere processes, which include, deformation of the lithosphere, subduction, rifting... Contributions which join numerical and analogue modelings will be very welcome."
