Breast cancer screening. Overdiagnosis artificially inflates the 5-year survival rate #India (66% 5 year survival rate) Spain (83%) USA (90%). Don't mix 5-year survival rate of cancer with/without screening. The "popularity paradox": bad cancer screening->overdiagnosis (true positives)-> people don't die of disease- think life saved -> 5-year survival % increased -> think screening great -> bad screening gets more popular-> risk for relatives->snowball of "needed" bad screening
