Very strange, of the many dozens of emails I have received, they have all had a statement stating they will no longer be able to contact me in the future / will remove me from their database, if no response is received - so the opposite of your assumption.
Do none of the emails you have received state something along the lines of these examples i have received:
"If no action is taken you will sadly no longer receive emails from us."
"If we still don't hear from you before this date, we won't be able to stay in touch."
"Sadly if you don't let us know by the 25th May 2018, we will need to remove you from our email database and you won't receive any offers by email from us"
