Dear All, Apologies for cross-posting. I'd like to invite you to a Symposium entitled Reimagining Authenticity in the Age of Post-truth which takes place on 19th June 2018, from 9:30-3:30 at Canterbury Christ Church University, North Holmes Road Campus. The Symposium is organised by the Authenticity Collective (an interdisciplinary group of academics and practitioners). The event brings together academics such as Professor Chris Beedie, Dr Jim Butcher and Dr Jillian Rickly-Boyd. Arts and heritage speakers include Alastair Upton, Director of the Creative Foundation in Folkestone, organisers of the Folkestone Triennial, Heather Newton, Head of Conservation at Canterbury Cathedral, Sue Jones, Director of Whitstable Biennale and text and language artist Liz Collini. Some of the (many) subjects examined by our speakers include gentrification, tourism, the placebo effect, creative placemaking, the artistic process, identity politics, sports psychology, architecture, human geography, festivalisation, hyperreal art interventions, filmmaking and heritage management. We'll be asking how (and if) the era of post-truth has changed our perception of authenticity.
