Dear Colleagues

This is a facsimile of the charter - supposedly dating from about 1160 (perhaps suspiciously, it doesn't have a dating clause) - by which the site on which Hull was later built was conveyed to the neighbouring Abbey of Meaux by local landowner Matilda Camin. The facsimile was published in 1827 at which time the original was supposedly in Hull's archives. Unfortunately, it hasn't been seen for over a century.

It's a long shot I know, but is anyone aware of the current location of the original? Please contact me off-list.

Many thanks
Martin
