Exploring Archive Exhibitions
Peter Lester, University of Leicester

Date: Tuesday 8 May 2018, 17:45

Venue: Room N304, 3rd floor, Institute of Historical Research, Senate House Malet Street, London WC1E 7HU

Shifting notions of the value of archives, increasing digital transformation and economic uncertainty have all contributed to the way in which archives are accessed and used, increasingly implicating the physical experience of being 'in the archive'. There is timely opportunity to consider how physical archive engagement is changing, and the role that different forms of access can play in this shifting environment.
This seminar will explore spatial transformations within the archive, with a particular focus on exhibitions. Using a selection of innovative examples, the seminar will outline evolving concepts around the nature of exhibition. It will examine the facilitation of dialogue and exchange within a social setting, and explore the different forms of engagement which exhibition can afford.

You do not need to register in advance to attend this seminar, simply come along. We hope to see you there.
