The School of Population Health and Environmental Sciences (https://www.kcl.ac.uk/lsm/index.aspx) is seeking to appoint a Research Associate or Research Fellow in Medical Statistics. The appointment will be made depending on knowledge, skills and experience.

The post is divided 50/50 between the Unit for Medical Statistics (UMS) headed by Prof Janet Peacock, and the Research Design Service (RDS), headed by Dr Peter Lovell. The two units are co-located, and members of both units work closely together.

In the UMS role, you will join a large and supportive group of statisticians working on clinical trials and other clinical studies, covering a wide range of different clinical areas, such as cancer, cardiovascular medicine and mental health. You will have the opportunity to collaborate on a variety of studies including phase I/II/III trials and will develop expertise in all aspects of trial design and analysis. You will contribute to statistical consultancy services and will have the opportunity to develop new statistical methodology where appropriate. You will be expected to develop your own research profile, with support from senior colleagues.

In the RDS role, you will be part of a large and collaborative team of research advisers, providing expert advice to researchers applying for grant funding. You will provide advice on the design of studies such as feasibility trials, cluster trials, diagnostic accuracy studies, and surveys. You will gain invaluable expertise in how to put together a strong grant application, enabling you to support researchers to improve their chance of funding, while also developing important skills for your own future research careers. Previous members of RDS have been successful in receiving prestigious fellowships with NIHR and Wellcome. (http://www.rdslondon.co.uk/)

In applying for this post, you should have a sound knowledge of clinical trials and other quantitative study designs, and ideally experience of working in a clinical trial environment. You will have a broad experience of applying statistical analysis methods in a health setting and will be skilled in communicating statistical concepts clearly to non-statisticians

This post will be a fixed-term contract for 3 years.

The selection process will include a panel interview, an assessment and a presentation.

Interviews will take place on 13 June 2018.

To apply, please download a new application from the advert to complete and re-upload. Please do not use an old version of the application form as they are specific to the post, and only applicants who have completed to correct form will be considered.
Closing date: 31 May 2018
