The Emerging Applications and Social Statistics Sections of the RSS will be holding a meeting with the National Centre for Research Methods (NCRM) at Manchester University on 18th June, 11am-4pm. The event is free, and lunch will be provided but registration is required (and discussion will also be compulsory). Consent for research is emerging as an ethical challenge where data has already been collected e.g. longitudinal studies, administrative data, biological data. Informed consent may not apply to new analyses or data linkage and where reconsenting participants is unrealistic alternatives are needed. Social and Health Sciences perspectives will be presented, and some opportunity for discussion, of the presentations and further plans for the RSS. An opportunity to discuss some of the ethical issues arising from data which have less to do with AI and more about statistical practice. Registration and further details are available below but please get in touch if you have any questions.
