Dear colleagues,

The National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design in Norway moves to the new National Museum at “Vestbanen”/Oslo in 2019, and opens to the public by 2020.

Now we are looking for a motorized easel and would be glad for any tips and experiences on the issue. We are aware of the system used at the National Gallery in London and Washington, but this manufacturer does no longer exist.

The easel will be used for the photography of paintings in different sizes, where the largest can be several meters. The easel/ system should have features that allow paintings to be captured in multiple sections so that all the recordings can be combined into a very high-resolution image file. The system must be able to use for both normal light, sidelight shooting and ultraviolet and infrared photography.

The optimum solution will be a vertical, horizontal (X-Y) motorized easel with the camera standing still. The easel should be computer controlled with a software that communicates with all camera systems and can be programmed to control the movement of the easel and trigger the camera.

Other alternatives can be a combination of moving easel and movable camera or where the object (easel) is stationary and the camera moves horizontally and vertically.

regards
