Dear Mailbase,

 

I am interested to know what other labs are using as a cut off for urine creatinine when calculating ratios for urine albumin and total protein.

 

Looking back in the archive the last discussion was in 2009 where most labs were using arbitrary cut offs of either 1mmol/L or 2 mmol/L with no real evidence base.  I have found one paper that recommends a cut off of 3.4 mmol/L for PCR to avoid overestimating protein excretion.

 

Does anyone have any evidence and/or willing to share their practice?

 

I'll collate responses and share the findings if we get a few replies.
