Online Networker: Twitter Takeovers & Networking Online for CPD Purposes

For our May #uklibchat we are going to explore the wonderful world of networking but in an online capacity. Like what we do here at ukilbchat, we host and become engaged in Twitter chats.

Other online networking can be in the form of a webinar, or by being active on LinkedIn if you are exploring new employment. There are many ways to become an online networker and it is a skill that in today’s digital world makes us better professionals.

Networking in person can be daunting for new info pros (and even for those not so new!). However, developing the skills used in networking and transferring them into an online capacity can really build confidence and self-esteem.

Building new mechanisms for reaching out to people and developing relationships in the profession can be instrumental to your career and continuing professional development.

For example, Twitter is the perfect tool for this. Building and adapting your biography along with a professional photo, allows you to create a professional image. Learning how to converse in 280 characters is a skill that helps hone your focus and allows you to transfer this precision into a face-to-face setting.

This Twitter chat will show you that networking in an online context can build your confidence as a networker and as a social media wizard.

We look forward to chatting with you.
