Three further questions on this:

1. Is this not an illegal intrusion into a potential volunteer’s private life?

2. If you were to pursue such an intrusive policy, which potentially breaches an individual’s right to privacy under the terms of the Human Rights Act, how would you deal with a person, such as myself, who would not grant you access to this information on the ground that your interest is entirely unjustified and we do not, and should not, live in a police state?

3. Do you think that asking folk for access to their social media accounts as part of your application process for volunteers will increase or decrease the number of volunteers you able able to recruit?

regards

Richard.

Hi Everyone,

just a quick question - do any of you look at a potential volunteers' social media accounts as part of a reference gathering procedure? Prior to accepting them for a role????

Cheers,
