Announcement of Mrs. Henrietta Davis-Wray as Acting Chairperson of Disabled Peoples' International (“DPI”)

Following the sudden and untimely passing of immediate past Global Chairperson, Mr. Javed Abidi on Sunday, 4th March, 2018, the DPI Board of Directors met under section 5.01 of DPI’s General By Law No. 2015-1, a by-law made under the Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act, SC 2009, c 23.

This meeting took place in accordance with Section 5.05 (b) of DPI’s General By Law No. 2015-1 on Thursday, 15 March at 3.00 PM New York time.

On motion made, seconded and carried under Section 8.01, it was resolved unanimously by a quorum of the Directors of DPI that Mrs. Henrietta Davis-Wray be elected Acting Chairperson of DPI.

DPI is the world's first successful cross-disability endeavour to convert the talk about full and equal participation of persons with disabilities into action.

Today, 37 years after it was formed, DPI continues to be the world's ONLY cross-disability Global Disabled Peoples' Organization (DPO) with it’s vast presence at the grassroots.

Mrs. Davis-Wray has been the 1st Deputy Chair (Human Rights) of DPI since July 2014 and is highly respected within the global disability movement.

She is also the Regional Chairperson of DPI North America and the Caribbean Region. The Board is delighted with Mrs. Davis-Wray’s election.
