Dear All

As you may well be aware, the Department of Work & Pensions are intruding ever more into GP-patient appointments. This is putting many claimants off attending GPs. Please email me on [log in to unmask] with your name and role or organisation if you wish to sign this letter asking the Royal College of General Practitioners to tell it’s members to refuse to take heed of the latest DWP instruction. The DWP have just sent a letter out to GPs going a) don’t issue fitnotes if the DWP has assessed someone fit to work (ie the DWPs twenty minute assessment trumps everything the GP knows about the patient, sometimes accrued over many decades) and b) tell all unemployed patients work is good for them.... The RCGP is likely to come out against this if there is sufficient public protest which is vital for claimants physical and mental health.

What times!

Best wishes

Jay Watts
