The ARA Volunteering Sub Committee has recently commissioned some research from Caroline Williams into the Impact of Volunteering in Archives. This research has produced new information about the social, human, economic and cultural impacts of
volunteering. It reflects how these impacts relate to individual volunteers, services, and the profession. It particularly considers the impact of specific, less-explored areas of the archive sector such as business archives, HEIs and charities.
The final report can be found http://www.archives.org.uk/?view=article&id=494:volunteering-reports-and-case-studies-&catid=18.
The Action Plan for the ARA Volunteering Sub Committee has also recently been published http://www.archives.org.uk/images/Volunteering/20171030_Volunteering_Archives_Action_plan_2018-2020_i1c.doc.pdf
Do let me know if you would like any more information about the report, or the work of the ARA Volunteering Sub Committee more generally.
