I hope list members will be interested in the following event, which is an innovative piece of both public engagement and theatre...

Kilter Theatre presents INVINCIBLE, a future-facing, immersive play exploring the personal and societal conflicts surrounding the emerging science of synthetic biology. Following a sell-out run in 2017, Invincible is returning to Bristol this spring.

Drawing on extensive collaboration with BrisSynBio, the University of Bristol's synthetic biology research group, and written in collaboration with playwright David Lane, performances take place with small audiences at ‘point-blank range’. Staged in the pressure-cooker environment of a real residential flat, set in 2048, three women traverse three generations as the political and scientific become intensely personal. Each performance will be followed by a discussion with the cast and researchers working in Synthetic Biology - putting each and every audience member at the heart of a contemporary moral dilemma.

"Absolutely loved it - was intrigued, challenged & entirely engaged."

Audience member, Invincible 2017

"Invincible is scientifically robust, elegant, funny and extremely moving."

Dr Kathleen Sedgley, BrisSynBio Scientific Manager

"We left feeling we'd just witnessed something very special and unique".

Audience member, Invincible 2017
